Students allegedly lose six months in protest by teachers including Priya Varghese and Deepa Nishanth, returns answer sheets without valuing
KOCHI: The action of the teachers of Kerala Varma College in Thrissur sending back the answer sheets after valuing only 35 papers from the papers obtained for valuation, has stoked a controversy. The action of six Malayalam assistant professors including Priya Varghese, the controversial heroine of Kannur University and Deepa Nishanth, have courted a controversy. This was mentioned in the audit report of Calicut University submitted by Kerala State Audit Department.
These teachers got 165 answer sheets of second semester B A Malayalam held in February 2019, for valuation. They valuated only 35 answer papers and returned the remaining sheets. Following this, the results of students got delayed by six months. Advocate Jayasankar alleged that no action was taken against it by the authorities. He criticized saying it may be because Calicut University and Sree Kerala Varma College are ruled by the party of working people.
However, Deepa Nishanth commented to Jayasankar’s Facebook post in the comment box. She explained that the answer sheets were returned in protest against the teachers for not attending the valuation camp regularly and no students’ result was delayed due to the protest. If everyone had attended the camps it would have ended in a day or two but got delayed as they failed to turn up. It is strange that the learning and future of students attending class does not figure in the emotional outbursts of anyone. Such allegations have an advantage that the public may believe when they see the names of people who regularly attend evaluation camps including during vacations. The real culprits will remain hidden cleverly in the meantime. Those who raised this know that there is no way to tell them. Just said. In her reply to Jayasankar, she asked him to continue his work.
