KOZHIKODE: MK Raghavan MP has made serious allegations against the district collector and DMO in connection with the death of the patient following the malfunction of the ambulance door. He alleged that an ambulance was not purchased despite the money being sanctioned fourteen months ago.

"The collector and the DMO are responsible for the death of the patient. The money was sanctioned to buy the ambulance in June 2021. But it wasn't bought. A complaint will be made to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha to inquire into this delay,” the MP said.

Koyamon (66), of SP House in Karuvanthiruthi in Farook, got trapped in the ambulance. He was seriously injured after being hit by a scooter on Monday afternoon and was first taken to the Govt. Beach Hospital. He was taken to the medical college in an ambulance from the beach hospital when the doctors advised him to be transferred to the medical college as his condition was serious.

After reaching the medical college, the door of the ambulance was found to be jammed. Koyamon got stuck in the ambulance for half an hour. Finally, the patient was brought out by cutting open the door with a small axe. He passed away later that night.

Meanwhile, as per the report given by the Superintendent of Govt. Beach Hospital to Kozhikode DMO, Koyamon died due to the carelessness of his friend who was with the patient.

A doctor and two of Koyamon's friends were with him when he was taken to the medical college in an ambulance. Before the driver opened the door of the ambulance that arrived at the medical college, the friend pushed the patient from inside in a frenzy to get the patient out. Due to this, the door was stuck. The report says that the ambulance was used till the previous day of the incident.
