NEW DELHI: The Congress High Command is not ruling out the possibility of Rahul Gandhi returning to the post of President after various state PCCs passed the resolution supporting Rahul. After Chhattisgarh and Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Maharashtra PCCs also passed resolutions supporting Rahul.

Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi urgently summoned KC Venugopal, the general secretary in charge of the organization, who was on a Bharat Jodo Yatra, to Delhi. After the meeting with Sonia, Venugopal told the media that Rahul did not inform anything about contesting for the post of president. He said that there is nothing wrong with activists expressing their feelings. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, who is on a Bharat Jodo Yatra, changed his decision to go to Delhi during the trip.

Gehlot puts forward condition
It is reported that Ashok Gehlot, who is likely to be the official party candidate, has put forward a condition that if he is named as a candidate, he should be allowed to continue as the chief minister of Rajasthan. He said that if Sonia remained as the full-time president, he could become the working president while serving as Rajasthan CM. Gehlot will meet Sonia on Wednesday in this regard. He called an emergency meeting of MLAs in Rajasthan on Tuesday.

Gehlot is not ready to give the post of chief minister to his rival Sachin Pilot.

Gehlot is also planning to hand over Rajasthan to his confidant if he has to go to national politics. Meanwhile, Sachin Pilot, who is hoping for the post of Chief Minister, reached Delhi on Tuesday. A section of the Rajasthan Congress wants Sachin Pilot to be made the chief minister before the assembly elections.

Challenge for Tharoor
Shashi Tharoor's action of meeting Sonia Gandhi and seeking permission to contest has caused discomfort within the rebel group as well. G23 leaders, including Manish Tiwari, do not agree with Tharoor's stand that he will not contest if Rahul becomes the president. There are also indications that Tiwari is preparing to replace Tharoor as a candidate.
