THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The owner of Achayans Gold, a Kottayam-based jewellery group, cancelled the advertisement worth lakhs given to KSRTC following the incident where a father was brutally beaten up by the KSRTC employees. The group has also handed Rs 50,000 to the girl as a travel allowance for four years. The money was handed over to the girl by Tony Varchikan, the Managing Director of Achayans Group, after visiting 'Greereshma' house in Amachal's Kuchappuram on Thursday.

Achayans Gold MD Tony decided to withdraw the advertisement given to KSRTC after watching the sickening video. Achayans Gold manager Shinil Kurian told 'Kerala Kaumudi' that a portion of the amount paid for the advertisement was given to the family of the girl who was assaulted. The money was handed over to Reshma in the presence of her father Premanan and her mother Dali PR.

The jewellery group paid Rs 1,80,000 per month to KSRTC for displaying advertisements on 20 buses. This has been going on for six months. It was time to renew the contract for three months. But after seeing the atrocity of KSRTC employees, they decided not to renew the contract.

More trouble from KSRTC's end

Tony Varghese also shared with Kerala Kaumudi Online the incident where a KSRTC bus rammed his vehicle months ago and went ahead without stopping. 'They did this to me who had paid lakhs a month in advertisements. I didn't raise any complaints. What is the point of it? If it was a private vehicle, some people can be held responsible. But if the KSRTC bus causes an accident, they are arrogant that there is no one to complain to'- says Tony.
