Man arrested for raping, impregnating married woman; complaint lodged after he demanded to hand over baby

THRIKARIPUR: The police have arrested a 42-year-old man who allegedly abused his relative, who is married, and impregnated her. T Haris, of Abubakar Manzil in Thrikaripur's Maniyanodi, was arrested by SI MV Sreedas. He is a native of Payyannur's Kavvayi.

A 35-year-old woman from Chandera police station filed a complaint with the police stating that Harris raped and impregnated her. In the name of helping her ailing husband, he also recorded private photos of the woman and threatened to spread the footage if she did not agree to his sexual demands. He also demanded to give her recently born baby and threatened to kill her husband if she refuses, following which she lodged a complaint with Kanhangad DySP P Balakrishnan Nair.

The police said that the man, who is said to be a businessman in Maharashtra, has been threatening people by introducing himself as the personal staff of a BJP MP in Maharashtra. The accused was remanded for 14 days by the Hosdurg Magistrate Court.
