Kodiyeri will be laid to rest in midst of tombs of Nayanar and Chadayan Govindan, CM at Kodiyeri‘s house

KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan came to the house of former CPM state secretary and politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in Eengayilpeedika. He consoled Kodiyeri's wife Vinodini and children. The chief minister came with his family.

Even when the body was kept for homage at Thalassery Town Hall yesterday, the chief minister came to meet his beloved comrade who accompanied him like a brother. Kodiyeri was draped in red flag by the chief minister and senior leaders. The chief minister also paid floral tributes. He sat beside the body for hours.

Meantime, Kodiyeri's body will be taken to Kannur district committee office as a procession. The mortal remains will be there for public homage till 3 pm. The funeral will be held with full state honours and gun salute at Payyambalam crematorium, where leaders were laid to rest including A K Goplan, Chadayan Govindan and E K Nayanar. Many including central leaders of CPM will attend the leader’s last rites. A condolence meeting will also be held after the funeral.
Kodiyeri Balakrishnan passed away on Saturday at 8 pm. He died in Chennai Apollo Hospital while undergoing treatment for cancer.
