ADELAIDE: Fifties from Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were backed by wicket-taking performances from Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Shami as India beat Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup match at Adelaide Oval.

After being asked to bat, India put on a good score of 184/6 in 20 overs. Virat scored 64 runs in a historic outing as not only his score powered India to a good total, but he also became the highest run scorer in T20 WC history. KL Rahul also hit 50 runs in 32 balls. Suryakumar Yadav's quickfire 30 in 16 kept the scoreboard ticking. Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh as he took 3 wickets.

Chasing a target of 185, Bangladesh dominated the opening 7 overs with a blistering half-century from Litton Das. Bangladesh looked on course for a famous victory against their neighbours when rain stopped play. They were cruising at 66/0 from the first seven years.

Play resumed after a while with a resumed target of 151 in 16 overs. However, things took a turn as they lost the wicket of the in-form Litton Das (60). From there on wickets kept falling as Bangladesh struggled to find its footing. Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya and Mohammed Shami took crucial wickets in regular intervals. The men in green needed 20 off their final over but could only manage 15 runs. India is currently leading Group 2 with 6 points from 4 matches.
