Heavy rains to lash state today, warning of thunder and lightning, yellow alert in five districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains will continue in the state, informed the Meteorological Department. South Kerala will get more rain. Authorities said there is a possibility of rain with thunder and lightning after 2 pm.
Yellow alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki. The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in all districts of Kerala in the next three hours.
The reason for the rain is the cyclonic storm and the associated low-pressure area in the South East Bay of Bengal along with the northeastern monsoon. The Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning that rain will continue at isolated places till Thursday.
