Walayar case: New CBI team for further investigation
PALAKKAD: The CBI has formed a new team to conduct further investigation into the Walayar case in which two sisters died under mysterious circumstances. The investigation will be led by DySP VS Uma of CBI Kochi unit.
The CBI has submitted a report in this regard to the Palakkad POCSO Court. It has been directed to complete the probe within three months. The Palakkad Special POCSO Court ordered further investigation in the case based on the observation that the charge sheet submitted by the Thiruvananthapuram CBI Special Crime Cell Officer did not contain the necessary findings and that further investigation was required. The family of the girls had also raised criticism that the CBI charge sheet contained the same things mentioned in the crime branch charge sheet.
The mother of the Walayar girls had raised a demand that further investigation should be led by an officer from outside Kerala. She had submitted a petition to the CBI Director and the Union Home Minister in this regard. The CBI submitted the report following the court's direction to inform the progress of the further investigation immediately.
