'Scaffold' to bring forth socially and economically backward students

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Around 350 students in the state will benefit from the Scaffold scheme implemented by Samagra Shiksha Kerala with an aim to bring forward socially and economically backward plus one students. The work of the project involving 25 children from each district will begin on November 19.

The mentors of the respective district will be in charge of the children. A mentor will be there for every five children. Vocational education will be provided along with studies. It will also enable children to appear for national and international competitive examinations after higher secondary. The scheme will aim at improving communication skills and personal qualities to ensure better career.

Scaffold will provide you with the help you need to study in any field like Civil Service, Agriculture, Fisheries etc. Along with humanities and science subjects, there will be studies in disciplines like IT, Technology and IITs. Scaffold is part of a central project called STARS, part of the World Bank. Plus one students from BPL category who have secured 90% marks in class 10th examination and public school are selected for this scheme. Students of Scheduled Castes and Tribes who have secured 80 percent marks can also join the scheme.
