THRISSUR: During 1986-87, Haridasan, a class 10 student was a KSU leader and his classmate Sumathi was SFI activist. Now 35 years later, that KSU leader is a Timila expert Kalamandalam Haridasan. Sumathi is CPM Pannithadam branch member, Women’s Association worker and former president of Chowannur block panchayat. Last day, they got married.

‘Thanal’, alumni WhatsApp group of Govt. High school, Marathamkoodu has helped to unite the couple. Three years ago, during a reunion, their classmates noted that both of them were still unmarried and living a lonely life. Months ago, their former class leader Satheeshan asked whether they could start a new life together. The suggestion was supported by their classmates as well. But both of them refused as they have never thought about it. Still their friends refused to back down. Finally, the couple got married on Monday with the blessings of family and friends at Kunnabathukavu Devi temple. 250 people attended their wedding. It was a dream come true moment for their friends.

“Never expected this. We understand each other as we have studied together. That's why we decided to get married. Politics and personal life are different. Won’t mix them together”, says Sumathi.

“I never really thought about marriage, but I was sad of being lonely. Now, I have got a companion with the help of friends and family”, said Haridasan.
