THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a move to foment riots in Vizhinjam, said the CPM. The protesters panel is responsible for yesterday’s riots, said CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan. Talking to a channel, he said five of the six demands raised by the protesters have been accepted.

Meantime, tight security has been imposed in Vizhinjam. There is a large contingent of police on the coastal area, around the police station and in the harbour. Police have been brought from other districts.

The police station was attacked last evening. The protesters who reached the Vizhinjam police station demanding the release of five arrested in the clashes that broke out on Saturday, unleashed violence in the station. 35 cops were injured. Eight protesters were also injured in the clash.
