Student sustains injuries as branch of tree falls in stadium where state school athletics meet taking place

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A student sustained injuries after a branch of a tree broke and fell on the university stadium where the state school athletics meet is taking place. The student injured is K P Afitha of Shalom HS in Ernakulam. The incident happened Sunday morning.
She sustained head injuries. Education Minister V Sivankutty visited the accident site. She has been admitted in the hospital and her injuries are not serious, the minister said.
The branch of the tree fell at the place where parents and students were sitting during the javelin throw competition. A major tragedy was averted as the people ran away. The fire brigade reached the spot and cut the tree branches soon after the accident.
