Bill to remove Governor from chancellor post in assembly day after tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A bill to remove the governor from the post of chancellor of universities in the state will be tabled in the assembly on Wednesday. The bill will be presented in Malayalam and English. It will be left to the subject committee on the same day. The move is to pass the bill next week. The main agenda of the assembly session this time is to remove the governor from the post of chancellor.

Meantime, even if the bill is introduced, it will become a law only if the Governor approves it. The governor is likely to submit the bill for the assent of the President. The bill asserts that the appointment of the chancellor is for five years. After the tenure of the term, re-appointment will be given once. The chancellor's headquarters will be in the university. Ministers of the department will be the pro-chancellor.
