Special inspection by food safety department; 26 establishments shut down, 145 establishments served notice

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George said that the Food Safety Department conducted a special inspection in 440 establishments across the state on Saturday. On Saturday, 26 businesses were closed, including 15 without permits and 11 that were operating in unsanitary circumstances.
The minister added that 145 establishments were served notices.

Meanwhile, one more person died due to food poisoning in the state today. Three members of another family suffered food poisoning after eating shawarma.

KPCC president K Sudhakaran demanded that the government should stop the subservience of conducting farcical food safety inspections only when the public dies due to food poisoning. He said that the government should be ready to conduct food safety raids throughout the year.
