NEW DELHI: The union government has decided to halt all ongoing activities of the wrestling federation of India in the wake of the sexual allegations against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh. Earlier in the day, the government suspended WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar after he took to the media to offer unflinching support to Brij Bhushan.

Tomar addressed the media saying all accusations were barbed and contrived to put Brij Bhushan in a deadlock. He also stated that no such cases of sexual assault got to his notice. Meanwhile, the seven-member panel assigned by the Indian Olympic Association to investigate the matter will submit their report in ten days’ time. Earlier today, the wrestlers called off their protest after talks with minister Anurag Thakur showed signs of hope. The minister also asked Brij Bhushan to step down from power until the findings come out.
