Govt extends help to farmers; coconut support price hiked; FM announces 971 crore for agriculture sector

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An amount of 971 crore has been allocated in the state budget for the agriculture sector. The finance minister announced 60.85 crore for coconut project. The support price of coconut has been raised from Rs 32 to Rs 34.
Rs 91.05 crores have been allocated for paddy cultivation, 10 crores for Smart Krishi Bhavans and Rs 8 crores for Karshika Karma Sena. 30 crore announced for crop insurance.
- Two crore each have been announced for watershed development in Thrithala and Kuttiyadi.
- 100 crore announced for construction of Kuttanad paddy field outer bund
- 50 crore earmarked to prevent wildlife attacks
- 2 crore for new dairy park
- Subsidy allocation for rubber farmers increased to 600 crores
