Ukraine's attempted attack on Putin's residence; Zelensky slams 'lies'
MOSCOW: Ukraine has been accused of trying to attack Russian President Vladimir Putin's residence. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that 91 long-range drones from Ukraine targeted Putin's official residence in the Novgorod region between midnight on Sunday and early yesterday morning.
Lavrov said that all the drones were shot down by Russian air defense systems and that there were no casualties or damage. It was not clear whether Putin was at the residence at the time of the incident. Lavrov warned that Russia would retaliate immediately.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded that the accusation was completely false. Zelensky added that Russia was fabricating stories to justify its attacks on Ukraine and that their goal was to undermine peace talks.
