LONDON: Liverpool football club decided to sack head coach Arne Slot on Saturday after conducting a review of the season. The decision was anticipated as Slot failed to repeat his glorious debut season that saw Liverpool win their 20th Premier League title. The Dutch manager saw his tactics stumble apart in the second season, which even put the team’s Champions League qualification in jeopardy.

As per reports, Arne Slot has been dismissed with immediate effect.

Slot spent £450m in new signings last season, which worsened the plight as all among the new signings had a sombre first season at Anfield. The players failed to adapt to their new club, while at some point, the Liverpool team were far from recognisable compared to their previous seasons. Even club legends, including Salah, came forward questioning Slot's tactics. signalling that something was not right at the club.

There's also been a clarion call from the supporters to change Slot and ensure the club tradition gets back to winning ways.

Liverpool statement:

“That this was a difficult decision for us to make as a club goes without saying. The contribution Arne has made to Liverpool FC in the time that he has been with us has been significant, meaningful and – most importantly of all to supporters and ourselves – successful. From the moment that we first encountered Arne, it was immediately clear that he is an individual who does not merely accept responsibility, he embraces it.

Arne leaves with our gratitude, with a Premier League title to his name, and with the knowledge that he and his family will always be welcomed back at Anfield.”

As per rumours, former Spanish midfielder Andoni Iraola Sagarna is likely to become the new manager at Liverpool. The former Bournemouth manager, Iraola, employs ferocious, high-intensity pressing, direct vertical attacks, and swift transitional play, and his team usually follows slow, methodical possession.

It was the Iraola tactics that brought Bournemouth from a relegation-fighting team to the top seven in the Premier League.
