KOCHI: Two decades after it first took the Kerala box office by storm, Telugu icon star Allu Arjun’s romantic-comedy entertainer Happy is gearing up for a grand theatrical re-release. To give the new generation of cinephiles a taste of this nostalgic blockbuster, the film is scheduled to hit big screens across Kerala on June 12.

Directed by A. Karunakaran, Happy was a massive phenomenon during its initial release, enjoying an incredible theatrical run of over 150 days in Kerala alone. The movie is widely regarded as a major milestone in Allu Arjun’s career, playing a pivotal role in establishing his massive, loyal fanbase among the Malayali audience.

The upcoming re-release promises an enhanced cinematic experience, upgraded with state-of-the-art 4K projection and remastered audio. Audiences will get to experience the iconic Malayalam dubbed version, which remains immensely popular to this day.

One of the biggest highlights of the return will be Yuvan Shankar Raja’s evergreen soundtrack, which defined the youth culture of the mid-2000s and is expected to draw major crowds back to the theatres.

Originally produced by Allu Aravind under the banner of Geetha Arts, the film is being brought back to Kerala theatres by Khader Hassan of Radhak Arts. Alongside Allu Arjun, Happy features standout performances by Genelia D'Souza and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles.
