Meiyazhagan director shifts gears, teams up with Fahadh Faasil for Tamil action thriller!

CHENNAI: Acclaimed filmmaker C. Prem Kumar, celebrated for delivering deeply moving blockbusters like '96 and Meiyazhagan, is charting a brand new course for his next directorial venture. Tentatively titled Production No. 32, the highly anticipated project will feature National Award-winning powerhouse Fahadh Faasil and the talented Sshivada in the lead roles. The film officially kicked off its journey recently with a traditional star-studded pooja ceremony held in Chennai.

Stepping away from his signature slice-of-life and romantic dramas, Prem Kumar is ready to push boundaries with a high-stakes thriller. Reflecting on the script, the director shared that this is an action-heavy concept he has passionately developed over the last four years. While many well-wishers initially advised him against shifting away from the heartwarming genre that made him famous, Prem Kumar admitted that the scepticism only fueled his creative excitement.

The filmmaker's vision found its perfect anchor when he pitched the concept to Fahadh Faasil. According to Prem Kumar, he had only narrated the first 45 minutes of the script when the actor expressed immense enthusiasm, giving the director the ultimate green light and confidence to move forward. Pitched as a direct Tamil feature film, the director promises that while the genre is completely new for him, the story will firmly retain the heavy emotional core that his global audience has come to love.

This project marks an important milestone for Fahadh Faasil, serving as his very first outing as a solo lead in a mainstream Tamil film, following his upcoming appearance alongside veteran Vadivelu in Mareesan. Interestingly, while both Fahadh and Sshivada were part of the ensemble cast in Mahesh Narayanan’s recently released political thriller Patriot, Production No. 32 will officially mark the first time the duo shares the screen as the main romantic and narrative leads.

Behind the scenes, the project boasts an impressive technical crew. Continuing a highly successful creative partnership, hitmaker Govind Vasantha has come on board to compose the soundtrack, while Meiyazhagan fame Mahendran Jayaraju will handle the cinematography. The film's editing duties will be managed by R. Govindaraj.

Presented by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, the film is being jointly bankrolled under the banners of Vels Film International and Monsoon Movies, with Pratheesh Sekhar heading the public relations. Backed by a stellar supporting cast including Chethan, Harish Uthaman, and Karunakaran, the thriller has already generated significant buzz among cinephiles eager to see what this fresh director-actor collaboration brings to the big screen.
