Mohanlal is known for working with filmmakers from all generations. However, producer Antony Perumbavoor has now opened up about a difficult experience when the star decided to collaborate with a debut director. He made the remarks during an X Spaces interaction held with Mohanlal fans ahead of the release of Drishyam 3.
During the discussion, a fan said audiences would feel more satisfied if Mohanlal collaborated with new directors. Responding to this, Antony revealed an incident that happened recently. He said Mohanlal was initially supposed to work with debut director Austin Dan Thomas on a new film. The project was being produced by Aashiq Usman.
However, Antony said Austin Dan Thomas withdrew from the project before filming began. He also revealed that the same project is now being directed by Tharun Moorthy under the title Athimanoharam.
“We had a project that was supposed to be directed by a newcomer. One month before the shoot began, he disappeared. After that, we became scared to take such risks. This young director got scared and stopped answering our phone calls. He just vanished. He went into panic mode. We cannot completely blame them, but experiences like this make us afraid to work with such people,” Antony Perumbavoor said.
