CHENNAI: In an emotional press conference, Tamil actor Ravi Mohan (popularly known as Jayam Ravi) broke down in tears following singer Keneesha Francis’s announcement that she was severing ties with him. The actor declared that he is taking a temporary hiatus from acting until his divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Aarati, are finalised.
"Enough is enough," a visibly distraught Ravi stated. "I remained silent all this time, but now it is time to respond. Everyone thinks Jayam Ravi is a pushover. I used to be, but not anymore. Some people are testing my patience, and I challenge them to face me directly. I will not act again until this divorce is legally completed."
During the press meet, the actor levelled serious allegations against his estranged wife's family, claiming they were preventing him from seeing his children.
"I married against my family's wishes, and I am paying the price for it now. They are not letting me see my children," Ravi alleged.
Highlighting the extreme mental distress he has been under, the actor revealed a past incident of self-harm while emphasising his commitment to his work. "I even slit my wrist once, yet I showed up for shooting the very next day. That was my commitment. But right now, I am completely unable to focus."
Ravi also hit out against the relentless online trolling he has faced, stating that he possesses evidence to expose the harassment he underwent. He further argued that feminism is being weaponised unfairly against him.
"There is a limit to cyberbullying. I have all the evidence, and I will bring everything to light—including the abuse I have suffered. People are taking undue advantage in the name of feminism. I have made films championing feminism, and my parents raised me with good values," he said.
Addressing the exit of Keneesha Francis from his life, he added, "You drove Keneesha away. I wish her a good life ahead."
Without revealing identity, Jayam Ravi launched a scathing attack on a prominent actress during the press conference, questioning her moral authority to speak on women's rights.
"This passive actress has no business lecturing about feminism. What right does she have to speak about women's empowerment on public platforms after destroying families?" the actor questioned sharply.
