CHENNAI: Fans are eagerly waiting for ‘Jana Nayagan’, purported to be Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay's swansong film. Earlier, there were reports that the film would hit the theatres on June 19. Now, Jana Nayagan’s director, H. Vinoth, has responded to the reasons for the delay in the release.

Vinoth was at a promotional event for the film Parimala and Co, directed by Pandiraj. Directors Pandiraj, Pa Ranjith, choreographer Sandy Master and actor Santhosh were also present on the stage. During the event, the anchor asked Vinoth to elucidate the reasons that were hindering Jana Nayagan’s release.

"I can't do anything about it. I don't even dare to tell you the truth.” This was Vinoth's answer. Hearing this, the directors on stage laughed. But some people are also expressing doubts about his response.

Jana Nayagan’s producer Venkat K Narayana and KVN Productions had earlier announced that the film is yet to receive a CBFC certificate. Tamil Nadu Film Technology and Cinematography Act Minister Rajmohan Arumugham had also clarified that the film can be released only after receiving a censor certificate.

The film, which was supposed to be a Pongal 2026 release, had received bookings of over Rs 100 crore. However, the censor board issues have made the release of the film uncertain. Vijay's birthday is on June 22. Fans are hoping that the film will hit the theatres before that.
