THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following intense multi-day deliberations, the newly elected United Democratic Front (UDF) government in Kerala, headed by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, has officially finalised its cabinet portfolio allocations. An official gazette notification was issued shortly after Chief Minister Satheesan submitted the definitive roster to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar at the Lok Bhavan.
The final portfolio distribution reflects a strategic balancing act among coalition partners, resolving days of internal negotiations over key state departments.
Key Cabinet Portfolios:
- V.D. Satheesan (Chief Minister): Holds the vital Finance portfolio alongside General Administration, Ports, Law, Science and Technology, and Lotteries.
- Ramesh Chennithala: Returns to a familiar domain, taking charge of Home Affairs, Vigilance, and the Coir department.
- P.K. Kunhalikutty: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) heavyweight assumes control of the high-profile Industries and Information Technology (IT) sectors.
- K. Muraleedharan: Assigned the critical portfolios of Health and Devaswom.
- Sunny Joseph: Entrusted with Power, Environmental Affairs, and Parliamentary Affairs.
- A.P. Anil Kumar: Takes charge as the new Minister for Revenue.
- N. Samsudheen: Appointed to helm General Education, Minority Welfare, Wakf, and Haj affairs.
