M Mukundan bags ONV Literary Award of 2026
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Writer and novelist M Mukundan has bagged the ONV Literary Award of 2026. This is a literary award given annually by the ONV Cultural Academy. The award consists a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, a statue and a citation. A committee comprising Dr M Leelavathi, Prabha Varma and Alamkode Leelakrishnan unanimously selected Mukundan for the award.
The jury assessed that M Mukundan is a writer who has been a leading figure in creating a revolutionary change in the field of Malayalam stories and novel literature. M Mukundan, who was marked in the Malayalam mind as the storyteller of Mayyazhipuzha, has earned a place among the most prominent storytellers of Malayalam, and even the country itself.
The jury also assessed that M Mukundan is a comprehensive personality in the field of literature. The award will be presented to M Mukundan at a cultural evening to be held at the University Senate Hall on the evening of May 27, ONV's 95th birth anniversary.
