Youth dies after falling into uncovered drain 

ALAPPUZHA: A 45-year-old man died after falling into an uncovered drain filled with sewage water. The incident is believed to have occurred during the heavy rain that lashed the area last night. Bobachan Thankachan, a native of Chathanad in Alappuzha, was found dead Saturday morning after local residents found his body in the open drain.

Locals suspect that Bobachan may have slipped and fallen into the drain amidst the heavy rain. No one knew about the accident that happened last night. Locals have alleged that the drain had neither a protective railing nor a cover. They also said that once rainwater fills the drain, it is impossible to identify the danger, and that no warning boards had been installed in the area. The body is kept in the mortuary of Government Medical College Alappuzha for postmortem.
