Big turn in Sangeetha-Vijay dispute; TVK chief offers 'pragmatic' suggestion to end divorce scandal

CHENNAI: A new development is here in the divorce case filed by Sangeetha Soralingam against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam supremo Vijay. As per new reports, Vijay will settle the case out of court, paying a gargantuan Rs 240 crore alimony to Sangeeta and his children.

The actor's wife, Sangeetha, filed for divorce, alleging that her husband was still in an extramarital affair with an actress. The issue created huge buzz on social media, and many adjudged the actress as Trisha. Hyping the rumours and shocking even people within the industry, both Vijay and Trisha appeared together at the wedding reception of Kalpathi S. Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh's son. It was their first appearance after the divorce scandal.

In the video, the two are seen arriving in a car together and being welcomed and taken to the wedding venue by a posse of relatives close to the wedding family. Fans also noticed that Vijay and Trisha were wearing matching outfits. Trisha was wearing an off-white Kancheevaram saree with a red border and a red sleeveless blouse. Vijay was wearing an off-white silk shirt and a matching dhoti.

According to media reports, the marriage started witnessing rupture in 2021. Although Sangeetha wanted a divorce by mutual consent, Vijay was initially unwilling to do so. It is reported that Vijay refused to divorce, fearing that his political future would be ruined. Sangeetha later approached the court.

Currently, Vijay is reported to have offered Rs 250 crore as compensation for Sangeetha and her children, Jason Sanjay and Divya Sasha. It is not clear how this amount will be divided.
