Shakeela Begum, the South Indian actress who stunned Malayalam cinema industry in the early 2000s with a slew of successful softcore movies, needs no introduction to Keralites. Shakeela exited the industry during the mid-2000s when the softcore business plunged in the blink of an eye. The actress tried to get into mainstream movies but was mostly typecasted to glamorous roles. Despite her efforts, Shakeela found herself unable to come out of the label of a former softcore actress.

The actress has now informed her followers that she had the opportunity to perform Umrah at Mecca. The actress is seen in the video going to Mecca wearing a veil in the traditional Muslim attire. The video was shared by her close friend Satish Christopher. The video was captioned as 'Happy Journey Ma, your dreams are coming true. Miss you Ma'.

In a previous interview, Shakeela credited the television program ‘Cook With Comali’ for helping her shed the old image of a softcore actress among audiences.

“Everyone started calling me Amma, and others called me Mummy. It was so different from the treatment I received from the industry. The love from the audience was unknown to me, and I knew that the show had given me a facelift.

I’m a person who is constantly involved in relationships. At a time, I will have just one lover. It is usual for my boyfriends and their wives to visit me at my house. We are all like family. As of now, I'm in love with a person,” said Shakeela.
