Scores of Malayalam movies have portrayed friendship, but nothing would beat the unemployed duo Dasan and Vijayan (Ramadas and Vijayan) created by Sreenivasan for the movie Nadodikkattu. Mohanlal - Sreenivasan combo manifested friendship in its exact form that tapped into topics of envy and derision. There is consideration and care among the friends, but it need not be palpable. This was the message in the movie.
Not just in movies, Mohanlal-Sreenivasan's friendship in real life remained dubious. It was a mix of harmony and conflict. At one point, Sreenivasan even opened up, saying that he was not on good terms with Mohanlal. It was just recently that Sreenivasan’s son, Dhyan, revealed that the iconic friendship is back on good terms.
Sreenivasan visited the sets of Mohanlal’s latest movie Hridayapoorvam, and is purported to have apologised to the actor for his former quirks that involved public lamenting of the superstar. According to Dhyan, Mohanlal responded with “Leave that Sreeni, no point in talking about it”.
Last year, when a severely ill Sreenivasan walked to the stage at an event, Mohanlal welcomed him with an endearing kiss. The video went viral on social media.
