KOCHI: Actor Baburaj has stepped forward with an explanation soon after news came that he has opted out from the elections in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). He announced that he is quitting from all works related to AMMA. The actor in a Facebook post said the decision is not out of fear. He has withdrawn his nomination papers for the general secretary post.
He said that he was pained by the sexual allegations raised against him despite having worked in AMMA for the last eight years. They could have defeated me through the electoral process and it would have been democratic. However, I am unable to move ahead facing the allegations, he said.
The reward he got for working in the association for the past eight years is insult and sexual harassment complaints. The association has been able to do a lot of good things in the past ten months. Decided to contest again with the aim of continuing that. However, he penned that it is difficult to move forward with association matters while defending so many allegations. He ended his post by wishing AMMA all the best for the future.
