Smriti Irani back as Tulsi Virani after 15 years, eye-popping remuneration

Former Union Minister Smriti Irani is all set to make a comeback to television after 15 years with the popular series ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’. Smriti will reprise her award-winning role of Tulsi Virani. The new edition of the series will air on Star Plus from 10:30 pm on July 29.

With just days left for the episode to air, there is a lot of discussion on social media about how much Smriti Irani is getting paid for the series. Reports say that Smriti Irani, who is returning to the mini screen after many years, has increased her remuneration significantly. In the first edition of the series in 2000, Smriti used to get Rs 1,800 per episode, but now it has increased to Rs 14 lakh.

The series, produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, tells the story of Tulsi Virani, a model daughter-in-law. The makers also shared the first look of Smriti Irani as Tulsi Virani in the series. Smriti Irani is seen wearing a maroon sari, a round neck, and traditional jewelry in the first look. Many fans took to social media to say that seeing the first look took them back to the memories of Tulsi Virani many years ago.
