Surprise announcement from Mohanlal; Drishyam set for theatre release on April 10th

There were enough debates and uncertainty over the release of the crime-thriller Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal in the lead role. The makers recently had to change the release date following the ongoing conflict in GCC countries. However, superstar Mohanlal came with a surprise on Wednesday night, announcing the release date of Drishyam 2. The second film from the Drishyam franchise was a huge success, but was released on OTT, robbing away a massive theatre experience for audiences. As it was during the pandemic, the makers were left with no option but to abide by the rules and restrictions.

However, the audience will yet again get an opportunity to witness the crime thriller in theatres on April 10th. Drishyam 2 will also get the distinction of being the first film in the history of Malayalam cinema to be released in theatres after a successful stint on OTT.

Drishyam, one of the best thrillers of all time in Malayalam, was released in 2013. Drishyam 2 came to Amazon Prime in 2021 after eight years. The film was a huge success on OTT as well. The release date of Drishyam 2 has been announced as a surprise, while the third film in the Drishyam franchise is scheduled to hit the theatres on May 21.
