Controversies and criticism have been growing ever since the teaser of the big-budget film Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Yash, was released. The teaser, which was released on the actor’s birthday, has sparked debate mainly due to its intimate scenes and action sequences. Social media discussions have linked Yash’s introduction scene in the film with Geetu Mohandas’s earlier public positions, adding to the controversy. Meanwhile, an old interview of Yash has also gone viral on social media.

Much of the discussion is focused on an intimate scene shown in the teaser before Yash’s character is revealed. In this context, Yash’s old interview has drawn attention. In the interview, Yash had said that he would not act in scenes that would make it uncomfortable for him to watch the film sitting with his parents. Some people are using this statement to criticise the actor. However, others have come out in support of Yash, saying that the interview was given many years ago and that his views could change with time.

The film, which is being shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, will be released on March 19 in multiple languagesm including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. In Toxic, Yash is not only the lead actor but also a co-writer and co-producer. The film has cinematography by Rajeev Ravi, music by Ravi Basrur, editing by Ujwal Kulkarni, and production design by T P Abid. The female leads in the film include Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.
