NEW DELHI: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has supported Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi over irregularities in the voter list. Tharoor said Rahul's allegations are serious and these are questions that need to be addressed seriously in the interests of all parties and voters.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that irregularities had taken place in the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka and the Maharashtra assembly elections. Our democracy is too precious to allow its credibility to be destroyed by incompetence, carelessness or worse, deliberate tampering, said Tharoor on X.
Tharoor made his comments by sharing footage of Rahul Gandhi speaking at a press conference about election irregularities. Reports say Tharoor, who faced criticism within the Congress for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is likely to see a change in the party's attitude towards Rahul as a result of his support for him.
Rahul Gandhi alleged in a press conference that 1,00,250 votes were stolen in the Mahadevapura assembly constituency in Karnataka's Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency, which was won by the BJP. Bengaluru Central was one of the constituencies that the Congress was predicted to win in internal surveys in the last Lok Sabha elections.
