NEW DELHI: Indian Railways is developing the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, which promises faster and more comfortable overnight journeys for passengers over long distances. The train will feature spacious sleeper berths, Wi-Fi service, charging points, and modern facilities designed for extended routes.
During a recent trial run, the Vande Bharat Sleeper reached a top speed of 180 km per hour, marking a major milestone for Indian Railways. A video shot during the trial, showing the train's stability and performance, has gone viral on social media.
The video demonstrates the train's stability even at high speeds. In the clip, three glasses filled with water are placed one above another on a flat surface inside the moving train. A mobile phone next to them displays the train's speed, which rises to 180 kmph. Remarkably, even at that speed, the water remains still and the glasses do not move or topple- proving the train's smooth ride quality.
The trial was conducted on the Rohalkhurd–Indragarh–Kota route to assess the train’s stability, braking efficiency, and performance under both loaded and unloaded conditions. The results showed that the advanced technology used in the train minimises unwanted vibrations and ensures a smooth journey, unlike regular trains.
Although the trials were successful, some final adjustments are required before certification. Once completed, the train will be officially introduced to passengers. The Vande Bharat Sleeper is expected to offer faster and more comfortable night journeys compared to existing sleeper trains, and passengers across India are eagerly waiting for its launch.
