NEW DELHI: Opposition leader Atishi has mocked Chief Minister Rekha Gupta saying that her husband is running the state capital. This was alleged via a social media post. In the post, Atishi also shared a picture of Rekha Gupta's husband Manish Gupta in a meeting with top officials of departments like MCD, DJB, PWD, DUSIB. Atishi's post said the chief minister's husband is running the state unofficially.

'Look at this picture, Rekha Gupta's husband Manish Gupta is convening a meet with the state's top officials,' Atishi wrote in the post. This has sparked political controversies. Atishi compared this to the sarpanch system (where the husband of a woman leader elected in rural administration runs the state). 'We had heard earlier that if a woman is elected as the main leader in a village, her husband will do everything. This is done in a situation where women do not know how to run the state. However, this must be the first time in the history of the country, this is also the first incident that a woman CM's husband is ruling,’ she wrote in the post.

Atishi also responded to the growing governance concerns in Delhi. The opposition leader asked about the power outages and the increase in private school fees. ‘Are these issues related to the Chief Minister's lack of accountability? Doesn't Rekha Gupta know how to govern? What is the reason for the power outages every day? This is extremely dangerous,’ Atishi added.
