Heartbroken by death of pet cat; cat lady who kept dead cat for two days commits suicide

LUCKNOW: Unable to bear the loss of her pet cat, a 32-year-old woman committed suicide. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha district. The woman, identified as Pooja, hanged herself. Pooja's pet cat died two days ago. The woman kept the cat's body at home for two days, hoping that her pet would come back to life.

Pooja had married a Delhi native eight years ago. They divorced two years later. Later, the woman lived with her mother Gajra Devi at her father's house. Relatives said that Pooja had kept the cat to escape loneliness. When Gajra Devi asked Pooja to bury the cat, she refused. Pooja said that the cat would come back to life. Relatives also revealed that Pooja carried the cat's body without putting it on the ground for two days. Relatives said that Pooja became angry whenever she was asked to bury the body.

Pooja, realizing that the cat could not come back to life even after waiting for two days, hanged herself from the fan in her room. Hearing Gajra Devi's screams, the neighbors who saw their daughter hanging tried to take her to the hospital, but she died. They then informed the police. The body was sent to the hospital for a postmortem. The police said that action will be taken in the woman's death after receiving the postmortem report.
