BENGALURU: Police arrested a woman for sending fake bomb threats to a school in Bengaluru. Bengaluru police arrested Rene Joshilda, who was in police custody in Gujarat. Rene Joshilda, a software engineer, sent fake bomb threats to schools in the city to seek revenge on her boyfriend.
As per reports, she sent bomb threat emails to schools and public places in Chennai, Hyderabad and Gujarat. The Karnataka police jumped into action after Ahmedabad police arrested Rene for cybercrimes in June. The emails contained threats of destroying schools, akin to the Gujarat plane crash. Rene sends the emails using a virtual private network (VPN) to hide her real location and identity. She also used an app called 'Gate Code' to register multiple accounts and create virtual mobile numbers.
Rene planned to frame the charges on her ex-boyfriend and have the police arrest him. Cases have been reported against Rene Joshilda in police stations across the country. The current case is investigated by a team led by Joint Commissioner of Police (West Division) Vamsi Krishna and DCP (North Division) Nemagouda. Investigations are ongoing to question the accused and to ascertain whether they are involved in other cybercrimes in the state.
