BENGALURU: A 29-year-old software engineer was killed after being deliberately run over by a car in what police describe as a case of road rage fueled by a heated argument. The incident occurred in the early hours of May 10 near Vasanthapura Cross on Kanakapura Road. The deceased has been identified as H.N. Sanjay, a native of Bengaluru.
According to the police, the argument that led to the murder began when Prateek asked Sanjay to buy him a cigarette. In the early hours of May 10, Sanjay and his friend Chetan were smoking near a shop in Subrahmanyapura. At that moment, Prateek arrived in his car and asked Sanjay to get him a cigarette from a nearby shop.
When Sanjay refused, an argument broke out between the two. Prateek physically assaulted Sanjay during the altercation. Following this, Sanjay and his friend Chetan left the scene on their bike. However, Prateek, driven by revenge, followed them in his car and intentionally rammed into their bike. Sanjay sustained severe head injuries and was admitted to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His friend Chetan, who was also injured, is still undergoing treatment. Police said that Prateek was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
