Modi becomes first world leader to cross 100 million followers on Instagram

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the first world leader and politician to have 100 million followers on Instagram. The Prime Minister opened his Instagram account in 2014. Modi does not follow anyone on Instagram. Modi's followers are double than US President Donald Trump’s. The combined number of followers of the next five world leaders is less than Modi's personal number of followers.

Trump has 43.2 million followers. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is next with 15 million followers. Brazilian President Lula is next with 14.4 million followers. Turkish President Erdogan is in fifth place with 11.6 million followers.

The most followed political leader in India after Modi is Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He has 16.1 million followers, followed by Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi with 12.6 million followers.
