Ninth-class boy dies after attacked by classmate with iron rod, seven others injured

BENGALURU: A ninth-class boy of a residential school in Karnataka was killed after attacked by his classmate with an iron rod. The incident happened last night at the hostel of Gurukul International School in Bellary. The dead has been identified as Hemanth of Andhra Pradesh. Seven students were also injured in the attack. The children sleeping were attacked. The accused fled after the incident.

The boy went on a rampage and attacked his classmates with a bed rod. The school authorities said the accused beat the children with an iron rod. Meantime, the family of the dead boy alleged that the accused used a knife.

Preliminary investigation found that the attack happened when the children went to sleep after dinner. The accused fled after attacking the children and the hostel warden. The injured children have been admitted at Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences in Bellary. It is reported that the condition of some of them is critical. The family of the victim is levelling serious allegations against the accused and the school over the incident. The family said the accused is a drug addict and that the school authorities are fully responsible for their son's death.
