MUMBAI: The country's newest airline, Akasa Air, is establishing a foothold in Kerala. As a first step, Akasa Air will start a flight service from Kozhikode to Mumbai. The airline authorities announced on Friday that it will operate daily direct flights between Mumbai and Kozhikode from October. Kozhikode is Akasa Air's 30th destination. The airline's co-founder Praveen Iyer said that it will increase connectivity to Kerala.
Akasa Air currently operates flights to 24 domestic cities and six international cities in the country. The airline operates flights to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Pune, Lucknow, Goa, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Sri Vijaya Puram, Ayodhya, Gwalior, Srinagar, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Darbhanga, Kozhikode, Doha (Qatar), Jeddah, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Kuwait City (Kuwait) and Thailand.
Akasa Air started operations in India on August 7, 2022. The first flight was from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.
