NEW DELHI: Will India's action against its brutal neighbour be limited to destroying terror camps? Pakistan fears, and the world is watching closely, what India's next move will be.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told a press conference yesterday that he would come back with more updates on the attack soon. It is not clear whether he was implying that India would continue to retaliate or that it would respond if Pakistan crossed the line again. In any case, there is an indication in the words that India will not hesitate to attack again.

Pakistan, expecting an Indian retaliation, was in a state of confusion for 15 days. While India was making a good plan for retaliation, Pakistan did not expect a lightning strike. Narendra Modi's strategy of showing calm on the outside while simmering on the inside has been successful. When the mock drill was announced nationwide, Pakistan thought that the awareness of the war situation had just begun.

The Army posted a note on its official X account saying that it was ready for retaliation only 20 minutes before Operation Sindoor. Pakistan, which had boasted of being able to defend any move, could not defend the unexpected move that took place yesterday morning.

Despite deploying missiles and fighter jets along the border, the Pakistani army was unable to stop the Indian attack, which caused great embarrassment to them. Pakistan is also anxious that India, which has attacked nine terror camps, will stop its retaliation or not. There are 21 terror camps operating in Pakistan. The Pakistani leadership tried to save face yesterday by giving full authority to the army to respond to India.

If the shelling continues...

Continuous shelling from Pakistan can be expected in the coming days in the areas sharing the border with Jammu and Kashmir. The airports of Dharamsala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, Amritsar, and Chandigarh have been closed for an indefinite period, with this in mind. At the same time, Pakistan knows that India will not tolerate attacks targeting civilians. India has made it clear that it will not stay quiet if it is hit.

Meanwhile, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had responded that the conflict could be resolved through talks if India backed down. However, he later told a private channel that Pakistan is ready for retaliation.
