NEW DELHI: In a joint press conference by senior military officials, the Army clarified that Operation Sindoor was aimed solely at terrorist targets. The officials presented evidence detailing the execution of the operation, stating that the targets were terrorist camps located in Pakistan. The primary focus was on Muridke, known as one of the largest training hubs for terrorists. As part of Operation Sindoor, nine terrorist bases were destroyed, the officials said.
The officials emphasised that there was no intention of engaging with the Pakistani military and that the operation was exclusively aimed at eliminating terrorists. It was a retaliatory response for the loss of innocent civilian lives. Over a hundred terrorists were reportedly killed. The operation successfully targeted individuals involved in major incidents such as the Pulwama attack and the Kandahar plane hijacking. Muridke was specifically chosen because it served as a training ground for dangerous terrorists.
It was from Muridke that terrorists like Ajmal Kasab and David Headley received training from the Lashkar-e-Taiba group. Before launching the operation, the Army studied the geographical features and infrastructure of the areas hosting these terror camps in detail. The officials also clarified that civilian aircraft were never targeted, and even when Pakistan used a passenger plane as a shield, the Indian forces refrained from attacking it.
The officials stated that Pakistan, in panic after Operation Sindoor, retaliated by targeting innocent civilians in India. However, the Indian forces successfully repelled these efforts. The press conference also included post-operation images as proof of the destruction of terrorist camps. The officials concluded by noting that India’s targeting of Pakistani military bases came only after Pakistan carried out drone attacks.
