PAHALGAM: Malayali among the victims of the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir has been identified. The terror attack victim from Kerala is Ramachandran (68), a native of Edappally, Ernakulam. He had gone to Kashmir on Monday with his wife, daughter and grandchildren. Ramachandran was killed in front of his daughter. His daughter had returned from Dubai the previous day. It is reported that the other family members who were with him are safe.
Ramachandran lived on Mangattu Road near Modern Bread in Edappally, Kochi. Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, a Navy officer in Kochi, was also among those killed. It is reported that Vinay got married a week ago and had gone to Kashmir with his wife for a honeymoon trip. It is also reported that an Intelligence Bureau officer from Hyderabad, Bihar native Manish, was also killed.
The death toll in the terror attack in Pahalgam at 2:30 pm on Tuesday has been officially confirmed at 26. These include two foreigners and two locals. The attack was carried out by a seven-member terrorist group targeting tourists. The army is searching for them. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has arrived in Srinagar. He held a high-level meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
It is reported that Amit Shah will visit the site of the terrorist attack on Wednesday. In the wake of the terrorist attack, heavy security has been imposed in Kashmir. Vehicle checking has been tightened. Several people have been injured in the terrorist attack. The condition of many of them is critical. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital in Anantnag.
