NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the diverse varieties of coffee produced in India are among the finest in the world and have garnered global appreciation. He highlighted the unique flavours of coffee grown in Wayanad, as well as other regions of Malabar and Travancore. The Prime Minister made these remarks during the 127th episode of his monthly radio program, Mann Ki Baat.

He praised the rich taste of Koraput coffee from Odisha, calling it exceptional. Modi also mentioned the well-known coffee varieties from Chikkamagaluru, Coorg, and Hassan in Karnataka, and Pulney, Shevaroy, Nilgiri, and Anamalai in Tamil Nadu, noting that the northeastern states are also making remarkable progress in coffee cultivation.

Speaking about national pride, the Prime Minister urged the country to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram on November 7 in a memorable way. He reminded that the song, written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in the 19th century, expresses deep patriotism and devotion to Mother India. It was first sung by Rabindranath Tagore in 1896. Modi said that India must strive to build the kind of nation envisioned in Vande Mataram.

The Prime Minister also spoke about inspiring environmental initiatives from across the country. He praised the Garbage Café in Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh, which offers food in exchange for plastic waste, and the lake conservation efforts by engineer Kapil Sharma in Bengaluru, calling both efforts highly encouraging.

Referring to the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31, Modi said that grand celebrations are planned in Gujarat, particularly near the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar. He added that the ‘Ekta Diwas’ parade will also feature the strength of Indian native dog breeds. Commending the move, the Prime Minister said it is heartening that forces like the CRPF and BSF are increasingly including indigenous dog breeds in their ranks.
