BENGALURU: Bengaluru has been receiving heavy rainfall for the last two days, with the last six hours seeing particularly intense downpours. This has been the heaviest rainfall the city has experienced so far this year. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings to both the public and the state government.

The highest rainfall was recorded in Kengeri, where 132 mm of rain fell. 131.5 mm of rain was recorded in Vaderahalli, located in North Bengaluru. Several areas reported receiving around 100 mm of rain during the night.

According to the regional weather centre, the average rainfall in Bengaluru over the past 24 hours was estimated at 105.5 mm. Several parts of the city, especially low-lying areas, are now waterlogged. Key junctions such as Silk Board and Bommanahalli are also submerged. Due to widespread waterlogging in most parts of North Bengaluru, the Bengaluru City Police has issued an advisory to the people. The heavy rainfall is attributed to a low-pressure system that formed over the Bay of Bengal.
