Titan falls: South Indian cinema mourns tragic loss of Super Good Films’ RB Choudary
JODHPUR: RB Choudary, the veteran Tamil film producer and founder of the prestigious production house Super Good Films, passed away following a tragic car accident in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He was 72. He is the father of popular Tamil actor Jiiva.
Born Rathanlal Bhagatram Choudary, the veteran producer had an illustrious career spanning over four decades, during which he bankrolled 99 films across multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi. While the news of the accident has been confirmed, further details regarding the cause of the crash or other passengers involved remain unavailable at this time.
Choudary was a titan in the South Indian film industry, credited with producing several blockbusters such as Nattamai, Suryavamsam, Thulladha Manamum Thullum, Aanandham, Thirupachi, Shahjahan, and Jilla. His most recent release was the Fahadh Faasil starrer Maaresan. Two of his upcoming projects, Magudam and Hanuman Gear, are currently awaiting release.
A visionary filmmaker, RB Choudary was instrumental in launching the careers of nearly 34 successful directors. Prominent filmmakers like K.S. Ravikumar, Vikraman, S. Ezhil, Rajakumaran, Sasi, and Ravi Mariya were all introduced to the industry through his banner. His 1990 film Pudhu Vasantham earned him the prestigious Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
The mortal remains of the producer are expected to be brought to Chennai on Wednesday for the final rites.
