NEW DELHI: The Central Government has informed the Supreme Court that it will release SSA funds for Kerala soon. The Central Government has informed that it will release the due amount to Kerala in connection with the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan scheme. However, there is no explanation regarding the exact amount that will be released.
The Centre informed this while the Supreme Court was considering a case related to the appointment of special teachers in the state of Kerala. The state pointed out that the delay in the appointment of special teachers was due to the financial crisis caused by the non-receipt of SSA funds from the central government. In response, the Additional Solicitor General informed the court that Kerala would be given the due amount under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
The Supreme Court has directed that the appointment process be completed and notified by January 31, after which the case will be considered again. There were concerns about whether the SSA funds would be available soon in the wake of the state freezing the contract related to the PM SHRI scheme. The Centre's decision will be a big relief in the financial crisis currently facing Kerala.
